Plantation Jamaica 2003
Sustainable / ethical practices
Only a handful of cases of this one-time-only rum have made it to the UK, making it a limited edition not to be missed… Slowly fermented and then distilled on a Vendome Pot Still in 2003 at Clarendon Distillery, Jamaica, it was filled into Bourbon casks and aged in the hot tropical paradise that inspired that glorious box design for sixteen years. From there it was shipped to Château de Bonbonnet in France – the home of Cognac masters Maison Ferrand – where it spent a year in their casks gaining further complexity in the cooler European climate. Bottled as a 17 Year Old at 49.5%, this vintage rum is super funky – barbequed pineapple, roasted plantain, prunes, Kalamata olives, chewy dried mango, dark chocolate, vanilla, tangy marmalade, rye bread slathered in Irish Black Butter, and chewy liquorice. A great introduction to the island’s style, Plantation’s Jamaica Clarendon MMD Double Aged Rum 2003 is one our rums of the summer.
